First 10-mile run?

I ran 10 miles tonight for the first time ever! I am not sure if I have ever walked or hiked that far before, but I am really excited about this milestone. It is 2 digits. I did it in 1 hour and 43 minutes. I actually felt good when I was done. I am a little sore, but that is to expected. I owe a lot of this success to my training plan. I will talk about that another day. I find it hard to look back at myself just a year ago. I weighed close to 220, and was not very active at all. I came home and jumped on my computer and watched TV all night. Now, I am closer to 185 and I actually try to find time to get out and do stuff like this. It does take dedication. It also takes motivation. I cannot say that I have totally changed my diet, but at least I watch what I eat a little bit more closely. I am thankful for my wife, Kristy, who has been encouraging me all along, and to the community on dailymile.com. I wish I would have found this running thing years ago.

Have you ever run, hiked or walked 10 miles? Please feel free to leave a comment and share your experience.
