Broad Street Run

It's been a while since I've written here... I started writing this a while ago and just never posted it. Since I last wrote, I was able to complete the Broad Street Run on May 1st with my sister with an official time of 1:44:09. I thought that was fantastic! We crossed the line together, hands in the air and smiling (or at least trying to.) The day was long and tiring, but well worth it. I drove to my sister's apartment and we took the subway to the start. I could not believe how many people were there. Broad Street has a great atmosphere and a great course. So many residents and visitors come out to cheer the runners and that helps a lot. I took my camera phone and snapped a few pictures along the way which you can find below. I had a lot of fun and I love the finisher's medal! I am not sure I would do it again as it was a real pain getting home. At least I completed it!!

Now that I completed Broad Street, I am trying to figure out some new goals. Right now, I want to give my legs (or at least my running muscles) a good rest so I just bought a new road bike and hope to spend some time on that over the next few months. I still plan to continue running but I am going to try to be more selective about the events I choose to run. I have a few 5K's that I want to run over the summer, but after that, my schedule is wide open. I am considering a half-marathon, such as Hershey, but I am not ready to commit to that yet. I really do not want to travel, and even Hershey would require an overnight stay.

Wow, that's a lot of people. What did I get myself into?

Finally, 40 or so minutes later, we made it to the Start Line!
